Summary
As a Battery Test Technician, you are responsible for performing tests on batteries to ensure they meet performance standards and requirements. The Battery Test Technician will perform tasks in conditioning and testing Amprius Technologies’ proprietary silicon anode Li-Ion cells. This is a temporary role with the opportunity to be converted to a regular employee.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine tests on Amprius batteries to evaluate performance, safety, and quality.
- Utilize tools/equipment such as pneumatic cutter, electric drill, degas machine, and formation machine.
- Measuring cells using mass scale, digital multi-meter, and caliper.
- Performing visual inspections to identify and evaluate potential defects.
- Identify and escalate failures or unexpected behaviors to the Engineering Team within defined response time.
- Perform PC Board Soldering per specifications and instructions.
- Load cells into test fixtures, set-up and execute electrical cell tests.
- Monitor and maintain testing equipment and calibrate as needed.
- Participate in troubleshooting and identifying causes with Engineers and Technicians.
- Accurate documentation of the data.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives towards better efficiency and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow safety guidelines for handling battery components.
Requirements
- Proficient in use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Comfortable performing manual tasks requiring precision and manual dexterity.
- Basic understanding of electrical connections and testing software.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Experience with Keyence systems. Preferred.
- Familiarity with running Python scripts. Preferred.
- Follow technical instructions for test procedures precisely and document results accurately.
- Motivated to new challenges and embrace learning new techniques and refining existing techniques.
- Autonomous, personable, positive and a good teammate.
- Organized, detail oriented, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
Education, Certifications, Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an equipment operator or technician in one of the following industries: Semiconductor, solar, battery, electronics, or automotive.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Demands & Work Location:
- Fremont, CA: This is an on-site job. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work is required.
- Be able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- May be required to stand, sit, squat, bend, kneel, twist, crawl, reach, lift, balance, push, and pull.
- Adhere to company’s safety protocol and use personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes.
- Data entry requires ability to operate computer and keyboards.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday / 40 Hours a week
- Shift timings are from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
