Job Description


Senior Team Lead: Implies achievement of top tier performance as a Team Lead in the areas of team leadership, product knowledge, client relationship skills, commitment to quality and safety, exhibits all core values at a leadership level.


Overall Responsibility

All items required by installer. Responsible for the day to day output, quality and performance of a BMP Installation team. Successful Team leaders will set the example for quality, safety and output for their team as well as model DTEC's values. Act as DTEC field representatives to the team, clients and public. They are responsible for the performance and development (OSHA 10, Firs Aid/CPR, skid steer and attachments, Stormwater 101) of their team members. Team leaders are directly responsible for managing an independent business unit that demonstrates flexibility, innovation and excellence. Quality audit scores are consistently at 95% or higher. Safety audits are consistently at 100%. Team leaders must have an understanding of DTEC values and share them with other team leaders and installers.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities


  • Understand, agree and commit to DTEC values.

  • Is an effective communicator, coach and leader.

  • Communicate with clients, update progress, clarify changes, promote good outcomes.

  • Be able to interact with client in person and on the phone.

  • Will give recommendations on BMP work or changes to clients.

  • Communicate with other Team Leaders and other leaders at DTEC to achieve improvements in processes and outcomes.

  • Ensures the safety of the team, and ensures the entire team has PPE at all times

  • Perform JHA prior to starting work, on all projects, including traffic, utilities, overhead danger, equipment, open trenches, other trades, weather (ice). Be aware of surroundings.

  • Perform stretch and flex on site at the first job of the day and on every Xcel Energy project.

  • Drive or oversee the driving of DTEC vehicles, transporting their team, materials and equipment from job site to job site while adhereing to all local, state and federal laws.

  • Meets DTEC quality standards and has complete understanding of all BMP installations.

  • Knows how to use walk behind trencher, and skid steer and all attachments, staple gun, pounders, compressor, weed trimmers and proper loading techniques.

  • Ensures proper amount of materials and correct equipment is loaded and secured on truck and trailer, including pretrip inspection.

  • Complete reports for tracking field operations and billing information (MTS, JHAs).

  • Turn in accurate paperwork each day.

  • Sign off corrected items from stormwater inspection report.

  • Will have excellent attendance and communicate with supervisor if needs time off.
  • Will train new installers on BMP's and to advance to Senior Team Lead.
  • Willingness to travel out of town.
  • Group text with all other team leads, mechanic and equipment manager


Requirements:

More than one year of experience as a Team Lead

Able to drive for a team; above average communication skills;

Require CDL so that dump trailer or gooseneck can be used. Will provide time to get CDL.

  • Effective communicator, coach, and leader for installation team including identifying and reporting equipment repair and maintenance items.

  • Lead by example, setting expectations for Installer performance demonstrating expectations.

  • Work as a team to assist other crews as needed (Ex: loading trucks in the morning and identify observed issues on other trucks, trailers and equipment.)

  • Excels in training and developing installers (OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, skid steer and attachments, Stormwater 101).

  • Provides effective decision making to benefit the client, the company, and the team.

  • Creatively overcomes obstacles and committed to outstanding results.

  • Able to communicate the differences in BMP details and specifications.

  • Able to perform all physical requirements of Installers.

  • Complete understanding of BMP design and installation considerations.

  • Organized and thorough with documentation and managing work processes.

  • Smart phone literate and capable of learning software used at DTEC.

  • Strong map reading skills.

Each Senior Team Leader will contribute to success of the entire DTEC team. Senior Team Leaders will function independently with minimal supervision from the Project Manager. Senior Team leaders will also develop personally and professionally.


  1. Attend Pre-con meetings
  2. Visit sites to assist in layout, either pre-mobilization or rolling out with a crew
  3. Problem solving for teams at active projects
    1. Ex. proposing alternative control measures
    2. Ex. advocating for DTEC to avoid doing work for free, or negotiating charges on work not previously in our scope.
    3. Ex. making final determination if work site conditions are deemed unsafe
  1. Meeting and accepting material deliveries on site, for example rock deliveries.

e.. Reviewing DTECs work in cases of client dissatisfaction . f. Coordinate activities on site when more than one team is present.

  1. Assists with employee evaluation and formal reviews.

Compensation Range: $23/hr to $28/hr


In addition, Senior Team Leads may be given some or all of the following tasks and responsibilities:


  1. Become the designated TL for a large project or for a large client
  2. Assist in team skill development by coaching long term teammates
  3. Assist in team skill development by coaching new hires
  4. Demonstrates leadership by sharing ideas for improvement with other Team Leads, contributes to constructive conversation in Team Lead meetings
  5. Looks to advance the goals of the team by improving their own skills and the skills of teammates
  6. Surfaces challenges or issues that are preventing the team or the company from full potential.
