Job DescriptionPeer Recovery SpecialistLocation: 241 Greenhouse Road, Lexington, VAEmployer: Rockbridge Area Community Services (RACS)Position Overview: The Peer Recovery Specialist provides non-clinical, person-centered and recovery-oriented peer support services to individuals participating in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Drawing upon their own lived recovery experience, the Peer Recovery Specialist facilitates both individual and group peer support services that promote hope, wellness, community engagement, and progress toward recovery goals. The position assists participants in identifying strengths, overcoming barriers to recovery, accessing community resources, and building skills that support long-term wellness and independence. Working as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, the Peer Recovery Specialist collaborates with counselors, case managers, medical providers, and other support staff to enhance participant engagement and recovery outcomes while maintaining timely and accurate documentation.Qualifications & RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredCertified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) preferred at hire, or must obtain within 12-months of employmentOne (1) year of experience providing peer support, mentoring, advocacy, recovery coaching, or similar support services preferredPossession of a valid Virginia driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation, commensurate with assigned dutiesLived experience in recovery and a passion for helping others achieve their goalsWhy Join RACS?At RACS, you will have the opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on individuals and families in your community.
