The Housing Support Specialist will work within a Washington, DC–based Mental Health Office to support clients experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This role requires knowledge of the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and the ability to provide compassionate, client-centered housing support services.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct housing assessments and assist clients in accessing appropriate housing resources.

Enter, track, and manage client information accurately in HMIS.

Collaborate with case managers, therapists, and community partners to support client housing goals.

Provide education and resources regarding housing programs, tenant rights, and supportive services.

Assist with referrals to shelters, transitional housing, or permanent supportive housing.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and program requirements.
Qualifications:

Prior experience working in housing, social services, or mental health settings.

Proficiency with HMIS (required).

Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.

Knowledge of local housing programs and resources in Washington, DC, preferred.
