Job Summary:
Under the general guidance and supervision of Director of Housekeeping, the Laundry Attendant is responsible for the cleaning, drying, folding, and organization of hotel linens, towels, and other items. This role ensures a steady supply of fresh linens for guest rooms and other departments by following proper laundry procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and works efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial washers, dryers, Ironers and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and organize linens, and towels, according to type and usage
- Stock housekeeping closets with clean and folded linens and towels
- Inspect linens for damage or excessive wear and report any issues to the supervisor
- Load and unload laundry carts and transport clean linens to storage or housekeeping areas
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry room, machines, and workstations
- Follow proper chemical handling and safety procedures at all times
- Track inventory levels of laundry supplies and communicate needs to management
- Assist with stain treatment or special laundering processes as needed
- Handle lost and found with care and according to guest preferences
- Comply with all hotel policies, health and safety standards, and sanitation regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic understanding of laundry machinery and cleaning processes
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to meet productivity standards
- Ability to communicate in English (basic reading and verbal communication)
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in laundry or housekeeping is helpful, but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Frequent use of hands and arms for lifting, sorting, and folding
- Comfortable working in warm or humid conditions common in laundry facilities
Working Conditions:
- Indoor laundry room environment with heat, noise, and humidity
- Use of cleaning agents and exposure to laundry machinery
- Moderate to heavy physical workload and repetitive tasks
- Fast-paced environment, especially during peak occupancy periods
- Must be able to work AM and PM shifts
