Job Summary

The Systems Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the computer systems. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all system hardware, software, and communication links in accordance with the appropriate security technology and Government policy methods. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with the assigned supervisor, and staying focused on the assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

Administer, operate, and maintain servers and workstations, and associated systems on the customer’s networks. All change actions will be documented in a continuous maintenance log available to all N5 personnel. Update drawings and configuration control documents as required to maintain as-built drawings in a continuous state of accuracy. Perform software and hardware upgrades as required on all system devices to ensure all Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) and similar documents, Computer Task Orders (CTOs), and other security related tasking is applied as required by current Government directives. Ensure system documentation is updated as required to reflect that application of any upgrades.

Work with the Regional Information Assurance Manager (IAM) and assistants to provide technical guidance for the completion of various related security documents for all changes, etc. (DIACAP processes, SSAA, etc.). Develop documentation, coordinate application, and implement directed system configuration management standards as they apply to customer’s IT infrastructure throughout the network. Coordinate with network transport administrators and associated personnel to ensure information required for system configuration management is maintained in an accurate and complete condition.

  • Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments.
  • Support of remote access solutions: VPN
    1. Remote Desktop
    2. RemoteApp
  • Upgrade, migrate and maintain associated hardware, applications, services, and settings.
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery and back-up.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades.
  • Test release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility.
  • Create technical support documentation for systems and applications.
  • Performs work that requires practical experience and training.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT support personnel for problem resolution.
  • Work may be performed under supervision.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline is preferred.
  • 2+ year(s) experience in a System’s Administrator role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 or 11, Server 2008, 2012, and 2019, V-Sphere, VMware
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Server+, CompTIA Security+, MCSA and/or MCITP
  • Secret Clearance required
  • Ability to work productively within a team and independently with limited supervision
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline is preferred.
  • MCSE and VMware certification a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Experience working with the military and/or government
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with the military and/or government.
