Job DescriptionLHH is looking for a Legal Assistant - Commercial Litigation in Chicago, hybrid (5 days onsite for first 90 days, then 3 days onsite)

Salary Range: $56,000 - $92,500

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys in their Commercial Litigation practice in the Chicago office. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and enjoys working collaboratively with attorneys and colleagues.

Legal assistants in litigation practices typically help manage case files, prepare legal documents, coordinate schedules, and ensure court filings and deadlines are handled accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys throughout the lifecycle of commercial litigation matters.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Handle state, federal, and appellate court e-filings.
  • Maintain confidential legal files, records, and document management systems.
  • Submit conflict checks, manage matter intake, and assist with time entry and client billing.
  • Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, travel, conferences, and court deadlines.
  • Support case management and other administrative projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience in a law firm preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with document management systems; FileSite experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with strong communication and client service skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed.
