We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our growing team. Position Summary
The Legal Assistant / Paralegal supports attorneys and legal staff in the preparation, management, and processing of legal matters. This role is ideal for an organized and driven individual seeking hands-on experience in a professional legal environment.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work closely with attorneys, develop a practical understanding of civil litigation and creditors' rights law, and gain valuable experience that can serve as a strong foundation for future legal studies and career advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and process legal pleadings, correspondence, affidavits, and related legal documents.
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, file management, and litigation support activities.
- Maintain and update electronic and physical case files to ensure accuracy and organization.
- Monitor court deadlines and assist with the timely filing of legal documents.
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, courts, and third-party vendors.
- Conduct basic legal research and gather information as requested.
- Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Firm standards.
- Utilize case management systems and internal resources to track and manage workflow.
- Support special projects and other administrative or legal support functions as assigned.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accountability.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred
- Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in an administrative support role within a law firm or legal department.
- Experience in civil litigation, collections, creditors' rights, or related legal practice areas.
- Associate's degree, Paralegal Certificate, or other legal studies coursework.
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and legal case management systems.
