Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Hospital supports the Registered Nurse or healthcare provider in a hospital setting to provide high-quality patient care. Working under close supervision, this role develops and implements hospital-based care plans and prepares equipment for procedures across the organization's hospital systems.\n

Essential Job Function:

    \n
  • Supports the care team by collecting patient history and medical information in order to provide complete case documentation in hospital medical records.
  • \n

  • Assists in developing and implementing care plans as directed by the Registered Nurse or healthcare provider to serve patient needs of those being treated in a hospital.
  • \n

  • Ensures that the proper techniques and safety precautions are taken in accordance with Cone Health policies around sterile environments.
  • \n

  • Communicates health care instructions to patients and families in order to deliver information in a clear way for the care plan.
  • \n

  • Helps to respond to emergencies and safety hazards by utilizing personal protective equipment and hospital precautions to avoid patient harm.
  • \n

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • \n

Education:

\n\n

    \n
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • \n

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing; Completion of Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required within 4 years of hire.
  • \n

\n\n


Experience:

\n\n

    \n
  • Required: Non-New LPN Graduates must be accepted into the Cone Health LPN Academy.
  • \n

\n\n


Licensure/Certification/Listing:

\n\n

    \n
  • Required: Current LPN license in North Carolina.
  • \n

  • BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
  • \n
