POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Scheduler supports the planning, coordination, and execution of federal construction and maintenance projects by developing, monitoring, and updating detailed project schedules. This position ensures compliance with NAVFAC, USACE, and other federal agency requirements while maintaining alignment with cost, resource, and risk management objectives. The Scheduler works closely with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure accurate progress reporting and proactive mitigation of schedule risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain, and update critical path method (CPM) schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Prepare and submit baseline schedules, monthly updates, and narrative reports as required by NAVFAC/USACE standards.
  • Coordinate schedule input from engineering, procurement, quality control, and field operations teams.
  • Track and analyze project progress, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Interface with project managers and superintendents to forecast completion dates, identify schedule impacts, and update milestones.
  • Support project controls by integrating schedules with cost and resource data.
  • Generate time-impact analyses (TIA) for delay claims, change orders, and extensions of time requests.
  • Participate in progress meetings and provide visual schedule updates (Gantt charts, look-ahead schedules, milestone summaries).
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and contract requirements for data integrity, baseline control, and change management.
  • Maintain schedule files and documentation for audit and closeout purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of scheduling experience in federal construction, facilities, or heavy civil projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with NAVFAC or USACE scheduling and reporting standards.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 (required) and MS Project (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of CPM scheduling, earned value management (EVM), and time-impact analysis (TIA) methodologies.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hourly position. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. However, due to operational needs, may be required to work before or after normal hours of operations, on weekends or holidays.
