Striping Equipment Technician Build, Repair & Operate (Year-Round)

Work outdoors in the summer and build custom equipment in the winter. This is a hands-on role for individuals who enjoy mechanics, variety, and seeing their projects come to life!
About Us:
Highway Specialty Equipment is a Montana-based highway equipment manufacturing company. Our sister company, Solo Marking, works on the road striping during the summer months. Together, we provide full-year employment with seasonal variety and the opportunity to work on and with cutting-edge road marking technology.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a self-motivated, mechanically inclined individual to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both hands-on equipment work and the freedom of seasonal travel. Youll be part of a crew that stripes highways throughout Montana in the summer, and transition to building and refurbishing specialized pavement marking equipment in our shop during the winter.
Key Responsibilities:
Summer (MayOctober):
- Operate and maintain pavement marking equipment on-site
- Drive between projects and assist with on-site setup and takedown
- Ensure accurate and efficient application of road markings
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs in the field
Winter (NovemberApril):
- Assist in the construction of new pavement marking equipment
- Refurbish and repair used machinery for next seasons operations
- Maintain tools and shop equipment
- Collaborate with our mechanical team to innovate equipment performance
Qualifications:
- Mechanically inclined with experience in tools, engines, hydraulics, or fabrication
- Comfortable working independently and traveling for extended periods in summer
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Valid drivers license (CDL is a plus, but not required)
- Farm/Ranch Experience is a plus
- Welding or fabrication experience is a bonus
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug screen.
- Valid DOT medical card certification or the ability to pass a DOT medical card certification.
- 18 Years of age or older
- Must be able to move or lift 50+ pounds.
- 10-hour OSHA certification or ability to obtain one
- Candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment along with good social skills, collaborative, and a positive attitude.
