Are you an organized, proactive maintenance professional who knows how to keep equipment, people, parts, and schedules working together?

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to support a fast-paced, 24/7 automotive manufacturing operation. In this critical role, you will plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across three shifts.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and skilled at using maintenance data to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and keep production running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain weekly and monthly maintenance schedules for production and facility equipment.
  • Plan preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Prioritize work orders based on safety, equipment criticality, production requirements, and operational impact.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across three shifts to maximize equipment uptime and workforce utilization.
  • Schedule planned downtime and plant shutdown activities in partnership with production leadership.
  • Help coordinate responses to major equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance needs.

Work Order and CMMS Management

  • Review, prioritize, and manage maintenance requests through the company’s CMMS.
  • Create detailed job plans outlining labor needs, estimated hours, tools, materials, parts, and safety procedures.
  • Confirm that work orders contain complete and accurate information before work begins.
  • Monitor maintenance backlogs and support the timely completion of work orders.
  • Track and report maintenance performance metrics, trends, and results.

Parts, Materials, and Vendor Coordination

  • Work with storeroom and purchasing teams to ensure required spare parts and materials are available.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for critical spare parts.
  • Identify obsolete inventory and opportunities to reduce inventory costs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain specialized parts, repairs, and services.
  • Assist with receiving and verifying maintenance-related materials and equipment.

Reliability and Continuous Improvement

  • Support reliability-centered maintenance and equipment-improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze maintenance history and equipment failure trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective-action activities.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase equipment effectiveness and reduce downtime.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, and continuous-improvement programs.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure maintenance plans follow company safety standards, environmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Include lockout/tagout, confined-space, and other required safety procedures in job plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Support ISO, IATF 16949, and other applicable automotive manufacturing standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout maintenance operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance supervision, industrial maintenance, or equipment reliability within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using a CMMS such as SAP PM, Maximo, Fiix, MP2, or a similar platform.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with maintenance, production, engineering, purchasing, and outside vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably with a Tier 1 supplier or OEM.
  • Experience supporting a 24/7, multi-shift manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Experience with robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, and automated assembly systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • APICS, SMRP, CMRP, or another maintenance or reliability certification.

Work Schedule

This position supports a 24/7, three-shift manufacturing operation. Candidates must be flexible and available to work days, afternoons, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when business needs require it. Availability may also be required during plant shutdowns, major equipment breakdowns, and emergency maintenance situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and maintenance areas.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, and access equipment throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work around machinery, noise, changing temperatures, and other industrial conditions.
