Title Examiner Position Summary:
The Title Examineris responsible forconducting research, preparing documents, and working cross-functionally.The ideal candidatepossessesexcellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, strong time management, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is a team player witha strong desireto provide a best in class customer service experience.
Title Examiner Job Responsibilities:
- Search and examine titles of moderate to advanced complexityin accordance withcompany and underwriting examining procedures todeterminethe status of the title orestablisha chain of title.
- Abstracts and analyzes deeds, mortgages, easements, judgments, tax assessments, mineral reservations, and other applicable instruments.
- Demonstratesproficiencyin mappingunplattedland.
- Compiles reports from searched data,typescommitments/search products, and bills accordingly.
- Updates commitments/search products through closing.
- Reviews commitments and closing documents after closing. Types and produces final policies.
- Responds to various requests from company employees, affiliates/attorneys, and thegeneral publicregardingthe status of legal title and insurability of title.
- Locates, compiles, and posts information from city, county, and other public records for updating company files, logs, and indexes.
- Searches/examines and writes continuations and reinsured cases of moderate complexity.
- Reviews and processes title clearance requests, indemnities, policies, and corrections.
- Provide exceptional customer service to our clients and internal staff members.
- Completes all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required;Associate'sdegree or higher preferred.
- 5+ years of Title Examiner experiencerequired; 7-10+ years preferred.
- Experience working withResware, Qualia, or other industry software isrequired.
- Extensive background in examining Michigan properties required; multi-state title experience preferred.
- Ability to serve as a role model bymaintaininghigh-quality standards and providing educational assistance/constructive feedback to team members.

This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., with an average of 40 hoursper week.Overtime hours may become available andrequiredbased on business needs.
Position available in either our Sterling Heights or Farmington Hills office locations, depending on candidate preference.
