Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud #1009
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.
Dev Technology Group is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support both Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and new development efforts for a federal government client. The ideal candidate will have relevant architecture experience, strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset. Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer will have overall responsibility for planning, designing, assembling, and overseeing program systems. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing existing cloud resources, determining any changes that may be needed to improve system performance, and making recommendations.
- Providing guidance to engineers and developers on the team based on best practices to ensure the infrastructure continues to support fluctuating demands.
- Working with the government IT operations and other teams to develop strategies and action plans for implementing upgrades and integrations to program applications.
- Periodic on-call support, shared across engineering team members
- Maintain and enforce logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and agile metrics.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment OR No Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment.
- Strong proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration. Ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience managing enterprise Linux servers.
- Diagnose application errors, network issues, or server problems by analyzing log entries.
- Identify bottlenecks by analyzing system resource usage.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent active listening skills
- Ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical, executive-level government officials
- Ability to problem-solve and develop solutions to complex business needs
Certification(s)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional (preferred)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer or Red Hat Certified System Administrator
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Experience with:
- DevSecOps pipeline tools including configuration management, requirements (e.g. JIRA), automated testing, automated deployments (CI/CD pipelines), blue green deployments, and branching strategy and implementation.
- Designing and implementing Cloud-based AWS solutions.
- Writing/maintaining Infrastructure as Code with languages such as Terraform and Ansible
- Designing logical and network diagrams.
- Experience managing AWS resources in FedRamp Approved GovCloud.
- Outlining evaluation benchmarks for system performance assessments.
- Implementing technical architecture standards based on industry best practices.
- Engaging stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating those needs into a minimum viable product.
- Providing advice to project teams around technical solutions, best practices, and efficiencies.
- Reviewing environments to detect deficiencies, recommending, planning, and implementing solutions for improvement.
- Providing leadership for strategic planning or complex problem solving for programs and projects including the creation, maintenance, and governance of roadmaps.
- Performing functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships.
- Leading the development, implementation of robust, quantitative technology evaluation processes.
- Documenting performance criteria and testing strategies, quantifying results, trade-offs and recommendations using a data-driven approach to support conclusions.
- Reviewing design documents to ensure that they follow the industry and Government standards.
- Presenting architecture design documents to the client and revising based on client feedback to obtain client approval.
- Maintaining awareness and expertise of the latest cloud and infrastructure, orchestration, and automation visualization technologies to proactively support the adoption of beneficial new capabilities.
- Interacting and collaborating with specialists to successfully migrate applications and data to the cloud.
- Driving innovation and improving performance of the applications in scope.
- Providing recommendations and implementing ways to modernize technology to meet business demands in a cost-effective manner.
