Job Description

The Test Engineer develops and executes comprehensive design verification and test plans to ensure high-quality, reliable products that meet internal and industry standards. This role works closely with design, firmware, and software teams to validate hardware integration, analyze test results, and drive continuous improvement in product performance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive design verification and test plans based on product requirements and specifications.
  • Create, review, and maintain test benches, test cases, and verification environments to support thorough design validation.
  • Execute functional, stress, regression, and corner‑case testing on designs to ensure robust performance under a wide range of conditions.
  • Analyze simulation and lab test results to identify the root cause of failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to debug issues at both block and system levels, ensuring timely resolution of defects.
  • Drive defect tracking, documentation, and closure using established tools and processes, maintaining clear and accurate records.
  • Validate the integration of hardware with firmware and software components to ensure seamless system operation.
  • Design and build test setups for verification and validation activities, including test fixtures and custom configurations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide verification feedback to improve overall design quality and testability.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and relevant industry standards, including UL60730, UL61508, and EN298.
  • Perform verification testing such as DVT and other structured test phases to support product qualification.
  • Conduct EMI/EMC-related testing activities and support troubleshooting of electromagnetic issues.
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings with strong attention to detail and disciplined documentation practices.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance test coverage, efficiency, and automation.
  • Work both independently and as part of cross‑functional teams to meet project goals and deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a test, verification, or related engineering role.
  • Understanding of digital and/or analog circuit design principles.
  • Experience with design verification methodologies, including directed testing, constrained random testing, and regression testing.
  • Hands‑on lab experience using oscilloscopes, test equipment, and debugging tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and design specifications.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing and related troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as UL60730, UL61508, and EN298.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to solder and rework test PCB assemblies and build test setups.
  • Strong attention to detail with disciplined documentation practices.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or LabVIEW.
  • Experience with verification testing, including DVT and other structured test phases.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and industrial control systems.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes and other electronic test instruments in an engineering lab environment.
  • Background in hardware debugging and root cause analysis for complex electronic systems.
  • Exposure to EMI/EMC considerations in product design and verification.
  • Experience designing and building custom test setups and fixtures.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Interest in working on products used in everyday life and seeing the direct impact of your work.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in an engineering lab environment. You will work hands‑on with electronic hardware, test equipment, and instruments such as oscilloscopes, EMI/EMC test setups, and other verification tools. The position involves building and reworking test PCB assemblies, setting up and operating test benches, and collaborating closely with design, firmware, and software teams in a lab setting. The workday is centered around practical testing, debugging, and verification activities, providing direct exposure to products that are used in everyday applications, within a structured and quality‑focused engineering environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Derry, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
