Position Overview

As a Senior Network Engineer on the Infrastructure team, you’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing production and enterprise network. This position is part of a strategic modernization effort alongside partners like Microsoft, Siemens, and Cisco, aimed at connecting thousands of industrial sensors, optimizing factory uptime, and supporting hybrid Azure workloads.

This is a high-impact engineering role — not just supporting existing systems, but architecting the next generation of secure, resilient, and scalable networks across manufacturing sites and corporate environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize enterprise and production-line network architectures, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, and voice systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Cisco (bonus points for experience with Meraki) environments — configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing performance across distributed sites.
  • Engineer and maintain connectivity between on-premises manufacturing environments and Azure Stack hybrid infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Network, Server, Data, and Security) and external partners to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable connectivity.
  • Participate in and lead design discussions related to spine-leaf vs. campus architectures, network segmentation (Purdue Model), and secure industrial networking practices.
  • Ensure network stability and uptime through proactive monitoring, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of topologies, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to network automation, standardization, and modernization efforts, improving efficiency and reducing operational risk.
  • Support wireless devices and IoT/IIoT endpoints including access points, handhelds, printers, and manufacturing-floor sensors.
  • Partner with the Security and Server teams to enforce network segmentation, access controls, and patching/firmware governance.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the ongoing development of infrastructure roadmap.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of progressive networking experience in enterprise or manufacturing environments
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Cisco network technologies (switching, routing, wireless)
  • Proficiency in routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP (including iBGP vs eBGP design principles)
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 technologies including STP, RSTP, PVST, and BPDU operation
  • Experience with SD-WAN, network segmentation (Purdue Model), and hybrid connectivity between on-prem and Azure environments
  • Solid knowledge of fiber and structured cabling systems (single-mode and multi-mode)
  • Proven ability to design and implement resilient, scalable network architectures (spine-leaf, campus, etc.)
  • Experience supporting industrial automation environments (Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley switches a plus)
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • CCNA or higher (CCNP/CCIE preferred)
  • Manufacturing environment experience and/or exposure to OT networks
  • Familiarity with network automation, monitoring, and telemetry tools
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki is a huge plus, but not required
  • Azure networking and hybrid cloud integration experience
