Overview
Curtis Lumber’s Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling, staging, and loading of building materials product for customer/contractor deliveries and pick up. This role is responsible for working effectively and efficiently to ensure operational efficiency while adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Gather various materials according to invoices to be loaded for customer deliveries
- Band like materials together for easy loading
- Stage loads effectively for delivery
- Choose product of appropriate quality
- Stage Safely, Quickly, Accurately
- Load and secure material on delivery truck
- Maintain a neat, clean yard appearance
- Practice good merchandising including setup and traffic flow
- Maintain inventory levels and notify appropriate person of out stocks
- Rotate stock
- Manage shrink by utilizing proper procedures for cull and damaged product
- Assist with physical inventory and cycle counts
- Understand and follow receiving policy and procedure
- Prepare for and unload incoming product efficiently
- Effectively report receiving variances to the appropriate person
- Exercise principles of material handling and equipment usage to protect company assets
- Safe and proper use of equipment
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to lift 80 lbs.
- Experience on a propane Forklift, must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer needs and to recommend the proper course of action
