Job Description

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing new products and sustaining existing production contracts. This challenging position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience in developing and sustaining products. You will be responsible for ensuring our software and electronics products deliver cutting edge performance, evaluating make-vs-buy decisions, and continuously improving our design, analysis and project planning processes. Specific Job Duties shall include but not be limited to:

\n

    \n
  • \nSoftware Engineering
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers, including guiding, reviewing and approving their design work.

    \n

  • \n

  • Establish technical objectives, milestones, project timelines and budgets
  • \n

  • Building and sustaining a CMMI® capability level 3 (or equivalent) software development organization
  • \n

  • Develop embedded software for sensor processing, system state estimation, robotic navigation and robot swarming
  • \n

  • C++ or Rust or C programming
  • \n

  • LINUX OS development
  • \n

  • Developing software for RTOS
  • \n

  • Guiding the team in state of the art utilization of version control tools (e.g. Github, JIRA)
  • \n

  • Working with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
  • \n

  • Developing kernel, device drivers, system calls
  • \n

  • Developing for secure hardware, such as TPM or TEE
  • \n

  • Implementing computer vision and AI algorithms
  • \n

  • Implementing control systems
  • \n

  • Ensuring operating system security and threat modelling and Design of secure SW Systems
  • \n

  • Support make vs buy decisions
  • \n

  • Work with contract manufacturers to develop and execute development as well as production and testing.
  • \n

  • \nCross functional
    • Working across engineering departments to deliver on project goals

    \n

  • \n

  • Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Risk management, Change Management, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • \n

  • Work with the quality team to implement and oversee software and electronics related testing for product quality control
  • \n

  • Work with senior management to develop technology road maps, project plans and strategies
  • \n

Requirements and Education:

\n

Required Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Bachelors degree or higher in software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
  • \n

  • 7+ years of experience with excellent working knowledge of software design and implementation for sensor, electromechanical or robotic systems
  • \n

  • 4+ years experience in engineering, within the aerospace/defense, automotive, or medical device fields
  • \n

  • 2+ years of relevant experience developing UI’s and secure cloud resources
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Risk management, Change Management, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • \n

  • Proficient with Microsoft suite
  • \n

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • \n

\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • MS or higher in related field
  • \n

  • Exposure to ISO 9001/AS 9100 quality systems.
  • \n

  • Experience with high mix low volume manufacturing and suppliers
  • \n

  • Experience with electromechanical hardware
  • \n

  • Experience with Python / Matlab and experimental data collection
  • \n
