We are looking for a talented Upholstery Technician with expertise in sewing and pattern creation to contribute to our upholstery workshop. As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality upholstery products, including furniture covers, cushions, draperies, and other fabric-based items. Your role will involve interpreting design specifications, creating patterns, cutting fabric, sewing components, and assembling finished products with precision and attention to detail. With your expertise in upholstery techniques and your ability to bring creative designs to life, you will play a key role in fulfilling our clients' upholstery needs and upholding our reputation for excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret upholstery design specifications and technical drawings to understand project requirements.
- Create patterns for upholstery components, ensuring accurate measurements and fit.
- Select appropriate fabrics, materials, and trimmings for each project, considering durability, aesthetic appeal, and client preferences.
- Cut fabric according to pattern specifications, taking care to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and other upholstery equipment to sew fabric components together with precision and consistency.
- Install zippers, buttons, and other hardware as needed to complete upholstery projects.
- Uphold high standards of craftsmanship and quality control throughout the upholstery process, ensuring finished products meet our quality standards and exceed client expectations.
- Collaborate with designers, upholsterers, and other team members to troubleshoot issues, brainstorm solutions, and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sewing machines, cutting tables, and storage areas.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Upholstery Technician, Seamstress, or similar role, with a focus on sewing and pattern creation.
- Strong proficiency in sewing techniques, including machine sewing, hand sewing, and serging.
- Ability to create and modify patterns for upholstery components, such as cushions, pillows, and covers.
- Knowledge of upholstery materials, fabrics, and trimmings, and their suitability for different applications.
- Experience working with a variety of upholstery fabrics, including natural fibers, synthetic blends, and leather.
- Familiarity with industrial sewing machines, cutting tools, and other upholstery equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in measurements, cutting, and sewing.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and bring design concepts to life.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced upholstery workshop.
