Repossession Lot Attendant – Milford, MI
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process, document, secure, and store repossessed vehicles and personal property; coordinate authorized pickups and redemptions; maintain accurate records, inventory, keys, petty cash, and paperwork; and keep the storage lot safe, clean, and organized in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.
Process Repossessed Units:
- Mark each vehicle windshield with the last six digits of the VIN, repossession date, and client name using a paint pen.
- Photograph all four sides and corners of each unit, as well as the engine, dashboard, odometer, front and rear seats, trunk, ignition, and full VIN. Take close-up photographs of any damage.
- Confirm whether keys are present and verify that the key status recorded in RDN is accurate.
- Upload photographs to the correct repossession order in RDN using the last six digits of the VIN.
- Complete a personal property sheet for each unit and submit all sheets to administrative staff at the end of the day. Record the total number of bags and label each bag sequentially (for example, “1 of 2”).
- Bag all personal property and label each bag with the repossession date, last six digits of the VIN, and total number of bags associated with the unit.
- Remove the license plate and place it with the personal property. If no other personal property is present, mark the back of the plate with the last six digits of the VIN and repossession date.
- Store personal property in the designated location based on the last digit of the VIN.
- Protect vehicles with broken or inoperable windows using plastic wrap, as needed.
- Move processed vehicles from the processing area to the storage lot to keep the processing area available for newly repossessed units.
Release Repossessed Units:
- Release the correct unit to the authorized transporter or debtor.
- Verify the unit before moving it to the pickup area and match the last six digits of the VIN to the transporter’s or debtor’s paperwork.
- Confirm that all release documents are complete and signed and that all required fees have been collected. Attach the transporter’s paperwork to MRS documentation and return it to the MRS main office, or scan and upload it to RDN when required by the work location.
- Attach a copy of the transporter’s driver’s license to all signed redemption paperwork for return to the MRS main office, or scan and upload it to RDN when required by the work location. Verify the debtor’s photo identification before releasing a redeemed unit.
- Before release, confirm that all required photographs have been uploaded and all personal property has been removed, as applicable.
- Schedule transporter pickups between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. with at least 24 hour advance notice.
Process Redemptions:
- Schedule redemptions by appointment only, Monday through Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., in 15-minute intervals.
- Prepare personal property before the scheduled appointment.
- For vehicle redemptions, reinstall the license plate and remove all windshield markings before release.
Maintain the Storage Lot:
- Organize vehicles to provide efficient access for transporter pickups and debtor redemptions.
- Keep a designated area available for repossession agents to drop off newly repossessed units.
- Keep the lot clean and bag all trash daily.
