Position Summary:The United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Administration Division – Information Technology Division, is seeking a qualified IT Systems Support Specialist to provide mission-critical technical assistance and system support services. This role supports the information management needs of the office, with responsibilities spanning across network and systems administration, security, customer service, and litigation technology.Primary Responsibilities:System Management & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, test, and maintain networked systems (data, voice, video)
- Monitor and optimize system performance and availability
- Maintain and troubleshoot operating systems, servers, workstations, and peripheral devices
Information Security:
- Implement and manage IT security programs, policies, and tools
- Protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and apply security updates and patches
Customer & Technical Support:
- Serve as the first point of contact for IT-related issues
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support for software, hardware, and network connectivity
- Assist with setup, installation, and configuration of user equipment and software
- Manage and track IT asset inventory
Web and Network Support:
- Support and maintain intranet and internet content (e.g., link testing, content updates)
- Assist in setting up and maintaining LAN/WAN systems and wireless access points
Litigation & Case Management Support:
- Assist with the planning and coordination of litigation support and case management systems
- Support secure data access for legal teams and special case-related technology needsRequirements:Education:
- Successfully completed post-secondary education
Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrated IT-related experience in:
* Administering and supporting computer systems
* Implementing technical solutions for performance optimization
* Installing and maintaining hardware and software across networked environments
Knowledge Areas:
- Principles of system integration, network setup, and IT troubleshooting
- Operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Windows OS), device interoperability
- Security and performance tools, database management, and project coordination
- Tools and techniques used in modern system and network administration
Core Competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Performs technical tasks with precision and accuracy
- Customer Service: Responds to user needs with professionalism and urgency
- Problem Solving: Identifies root causes, evaluates solutions, and applies sound judgmentPreferred Qualifications: - CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or other industry certifications
- Experience supporting federal government or legal/litigation environments
- Familiarity with DOJ/USAO systems and operational protocolsWork Location:- Work is performed in a professional federal office setting in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN
- Position may require occasional lifting or movement of equipment
- Normal work hours with potential on-call support needs during critical periods
