Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This full-time, contract-based opportunity is ideal for a dedicated professional with experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Work across multiple campuses, collaborating with educational teams to deliver exceptional services to students from kindergarten through high school.

Responsibilities include delivering direct and consultative services, participating in district-wide Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs), supporting Usher Syndromes screening initiatives, and maintaining thorough documentation of audiological evaluations in compliance with district procedures. Adapt your expertise to a wide range of grade levels and school settings, addressing a variety of student needs and helping foster an inclusive, supportive educational environment.

Qualifications:

• Valid Florida Department of Education certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) required
• Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school setting
• Strong understanding of current best practices in deaf education
• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Fingerprinting (potential use of existing Department of Health prints)
• Ability to travel between multiple school sites in the area

Responsibilities:

• Provide itinerant DHH services to assigned schools (grades K-12)
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to facilitate student success
• Support Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs) and Usher screenings district-wide
• Collect, maintain, and upload audiological evaluations promptly
• Assist with individualized education plan (IEP) meetings and progress reporting
• Employ both direct instruction and consultative models tailored to student need
