Job DescriptionSalary: $18.00 per hour
Under the direction of the Technology Manager, the Technology Specialist is responsible for performing tasks related to the needs of patrons and technology in the library.
Essential Duties:
- Assist in the completion of library trouble tickets when assigned.
- Assist patrons in the use of e-readers, electronic resources and library related technology services/equipment.
- Assist patrons in the use of public internet computers, including the use of hardware and software.
- Assist in maintaining the recording studio.
- Assist with Office 365 Administration.
- Be present, visible, and provide excellent customer support and service to patrons using the public computer area.
- Collect money for library fines and fees when necessary.
- Document, track and report support-related issues and requests.
- Ensure all library patrons receive excellent, equitable, and efficient assistance in all interactions.
- Ensure patron record confidentiality.
- Explain and enforce library policies and procedures.
- Install and configure hardware and software as appropriate.
- Maintain an attractive, neat, clean, and welcoming Technology area.
- Organize and maintain all departmental supplies and equipment by demonstrating neatness, accuracy, thoroughness, and general effectiveness.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate technology programs.
- Respond to a variety of questions from patrons related to the library and the usage of various library technologies.
- Use the librarys ILS system to perform routine tasks and answer general patron inquiries.
- Assist with staff onboarding as needed.
- Perform 3D prints as needed.
- Perform 1-on-1s with patrons as needed.
- Works technology desk on a regular basis and other public service desks only as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Expected Hours of Work:
- Must work 37.5 hours a week. On-site attendance, evenings, and weekends are required. This position will work mostly nights and one weekend a month.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 6 months experience working with library technology.
- Ability to obtain a Paraprofessional Library Certificate issued by the Kentucky State Board for the Certification of Librarians.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Experience working with computers and Microsoft Office 360 applications
- Working knowledge of relevant operating systems and software in combination with at least six months of experience.

Physical Demands:
- Moving up to 50lbs. carts and handling moderately heavy boxes of books when the occasion requires.
- Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, type, pick, pinch, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Movement through facility locations and assisting patrons.
- Ability to handle books, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to reach above the head and below the knee to retrieve shelved items.
- Visual acuity sufficient to identify materials on shelving up to 90 and to read primarily typed or printed text in a variety of type sizes.
