The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in welding, structural steel fitting, barge repair, and marine fabrication. This role requires the ability to read blueprints, fit and assemble steel components, and perform high-quality welding while following established safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Perform welding, fitting, layout, and fabrication work on barges and marine structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, and work orders.
- Measure, cut, fit, align, and tack steel components according to specifications.
- Repair and replace structural components, including steel plates, stiffeners, frames, and bulkheads.
- Perform welding using Flux Core and Stick (SMAW) processes.
- Operate welding equipment, grinders, torches, hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure quality, accuracy, and proper fit.
- Make necessary adjustments to achieve correct alignment and meet project specifications.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in barge repair or marine fabrication.
- Previous experience performing both welding and structural fitting work.
- Proficiency in Flux Core and Stick (SMAW) welding processes.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fitting, layout, alignment, and fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Experience using welding equipment, cutting tools, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in an industrial environment.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work overtime as needed.
