Summary:
Vector Security is seeking an Alarm Installation Technician responsible for installing and servicing residential and commercial security systems in the Columbia, MD and greater Washington, DC area.
Technicians with experience as alarm installers, low-voltage technicians, CCTV technicians, telecommunications installers, or other field service technicians often find their skills transfer well to this role. Candidates with backgrounds in cable installation, construction wiring, or new home construction are encouraged to apply.
If you enjoy hands-on work, troubleshooting systems, and working directly with customers to make sure their security technology operates safely and reliably, this role is a great fit.
What You’ll Do:
- Install alarm systems, video surveillance, and access control equipment in residential and small to mid-sized commercial accounts
- Perform service and maintenance on existing security systems
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure systems operate properly
- Conduct system testing and quality checks
- Educate customers on system functionality and basic operation
- Document installation and service activity accurately
- Deliver professional, courteous service on every visit
What You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1+ years of relevant experience in low-voltage systems, alarm installation, security systems, cable, telecom, or related technical work
- Basic wiring, panel programming, and system troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset
- CAT Level 1 certification or equivalent a plus; Vector Security provides a path to certification through paid training after hire.
