Job DescriptionKAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced and highly motivated Systems Engineer (Journeyman) for In-Service Engineering to join our team. This position will be onsite at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD with teleworking opportunity.

Overview:
The Systems Engineer (Journeyman) for In-Service Engineering will provide technical and engineering support to the H-53 Heavy Lift Helicopter Program Office at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. In-Service Engineering provides support to ensure the continued capability, reliability, and readiness of aircraft, weapons, and systems throughout their entire operational life cycle. The candidate will provide in-service engineering support of the CH-53E / CH-53K aircraft, weapons, and systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the lifecycle of a program.

Primary Duties:

  • Provide in-service engineering support for aircraft, weapons, and mission systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with fleet stakeholders, program managers, and engineers to address mission system issues and ensure alignment with operational requirements.
  • Analyze system performance data to identify and resolve technical issues affecting operational readiness.
  • Focus on areas such as technical data management, supply chain support, and developing new solutions for fielded equipment working closely with the Fleet operators.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions, system modifications, and upgrades to address deficiencies or enhance capabilities.
  • Identifying and addressing fleet maintenance and logistics issues
  • Designing hardware and systems modifications.
  • Support the development and review of technical documentation, including maintenance procedures, engineering change proposals, and system specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for system failures and recommend solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and technical reviews to provide in-service engineering expertise.
  • Provide technical support during system testing, validation, and verification activities.
  • Assist with training and knowledge transfer to fleet personnel to ensure proper operation and maintenance of mission systems

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of in-service engineering principles, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and system upgrades.
  • Familiarity with mission systems for naval aviation platforms and their lifecycle sustainment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of recent and relevant experience.

Clearance:
This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required.

Compensation:
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000-$115,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
