A prominent manufacturing company is seeking a Field Service Technician to support their customer in Kansas. This person will be responsible for installing, retrofitting, servicing, and supporting advanced machinery at customer facilities. You will also assist with machine updates, repairs, and reworks in the field. Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset for process improvements and cost-saving ideas are important for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the installation, setup, and service of machines at customer sites in collaboration with customer teams and external contractors.

  • Ensure machines meet specifications such as cycle time, part quality, tool life, and other performance standards.

  • Perform production runs to validate machine performance under actual production conditions.

  • Train customer personnel on proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Conduct service and warranty repairs as needed.

  • Diagnose and recommend solutions for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and lubrication systems issues.

  • Complete service reports, progress updates, checklists, and related documentation for internal and customer communication.

  • Follow established quality and environmental protocols using provided job procedures and work instructions.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong mechanical background with working knowledge of CNC machinery (preferably metal removal).

  • Familiarity with Siemens, FANUC, and Bosch Rexroth PLC controls.

  • Ability to perform basic software testing for machine functionality, troubleshooting, and recovery processes (with engineering support available as needed).

  • Skilled in mechanical assembly, alignment, and fitting of machine parts.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals.

  • Proficient in operating machines for sample part production and final machine testing.

  • Comfortable using hand and basic power tools for tasks like drilling, tapping, and reaming.

  • Capable of disassembling and preparing machines for shipping, ensuring parts are properly labeled for reassembly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with 10–15 years of machine tool experience in a skilled trade, or

  • Associate’s degree with 6–10 years of machine tool experience, or Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or related certifications.

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or a combination of related education and experience is preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Willingness to travel extensively and stay onsite for extended periods during installations.

  • Flexibility to occasionally work split or alternate shifts based on project needs.
