Position Summary
The Project Development Analyst supports the development and implementation of large-scale energy projects, including generation and energy storage initiatives. This role manages financial analysis, reporting, documentation, communication, and payment processes throughout all stages—from early evaluation through construction and operational transition. The analyst contributes to project planning, contract support, and stakeholder coordination across multiple complex, multi-phase projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

Support the development and construction of multiple generation, energy storage, and other large energy projects across Iowa and the company’s service territory.

Gather, analyze, and maintain financial and project status information across multiple projects. Prepare budgets, forecasts, payments, actual spend, accruals, and financial plan inputs; generate reporting metrics and present data.

Prepare and maintain departmental reports, presentations, project schedules, task lists, SOPs, and project plans. Provide administrative and analytical support during internal and external meetings.

Assist with business negotiations, contract development, and contract administration related to asset acquisition, site development, turbine supply, balance of plant, and consultant/contractor agreements to ensure alignment with strategic development goals.

Evaluate project costs and financial feasibility for emerging and proven technologies to support long-term generation and storage portfolio planning.

Maintain, organize, and control project documentation including invoices, contracts, real estate files, notices, scope changes, reports, surveys, and study materials.

Support communication and responses to landowners, local government agencies, stakeholders.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field; or equivalent experience (typically six years of relevant progressive experience without a degree).

Minimum one year of financial, project evaluation, or market portfolio analysis experience.

Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

Strong customer service orientation with experience supporting internal and external stakeholders.

Familiarity with cash flow analysis, corporate finance modeling, and financial market interactions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills preferred.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).

Effective leadership, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage concurrent tasks.

Ability to travel occasionally (approximately 10%).
