A highly regarded boutique law firm in Walnut Creek is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to support its lead partner in a busy and sophisticated Trust & Estates practice. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term stability, excellent culture, and competitive compensation and benefits upon hire.


This role is ideal for a paralegal who enjoys working independently, taking ownership of matters, and being part of a bright, collaborative team.


Responsibilities:

Trust Administration (Primary Focus)

  • Manage trust administration matters from start to finish
  • Prepare and track statutory trust notices (CA Probate Code §16061.7)
  • Coordinate asset collection, retitling, and trust funding
  • Communicate with beneficiaries, financial institutions, and CPAs
  • Prepare trust accountings, asset schedules, and distribution documents
  • Maintain compliance timelines and statutory deadlines
  • Draft routine correspondence and client communications

Trust & Estates Support

  • Assist with pleadings, discovery, and routine motions
  • Manage document collection and production
  • Prepare exhibits, binders, and mediation materials
  • Coordinate subpoenas, depositions, and filings
  • E-file in California courts and maintain litigation calendars
  • Organize and summarize financial and trust records for attorney review

Estate Planning / Transactional Support (as needed)

  • Assemble estate planning document sets
  • Assist with trust amendments and restatements
  • Coordinate execution and notarization of documents
  • Track post-signing trust funding follow-up

Probate (Nice to Have, Not Required)

  • Exposure to probate filings, notices, and accountings is a plus, but not required
  • Willingness to assist with probate matters as needed
  • 3+ years of Trust & Estates paralegal experience
  • Strong experience in trust administration
  • Ability to manage matters independently and prioritize effectively
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
  • Professional and compassionate client communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with a lead partner and legal team
  • Must be able to work on-site in Walnut Creek
  • Open to contract-to-hire with long-term career potential
