Position Summary
The RN/LPN Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily delivery of high-quality nursing care within an assigned unit. This leadership role includes supervising nursing staff, coordinating resident care, completing assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The Unit Manager works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to promote excellent clinical outcomes and an exceptional resident experience.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as a resident advocate, ensuring residents remain at the center of all care decisions.

Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff to promote quality care and professional development.

Complete resident assessments upon admission, throughout the stay, and at discharge.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Ensure effective communication among residents, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.

Conduct daily rounds to monitor resident conditions and quality of care.

Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.

Monitor compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements while supporting deficiency-free survey outcomes.

Assist with infection prevention, exposure control, and quality improvement initiatives.

Identify opportunities to improve workflows, resident satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.

Implement and reinforce nursing policies, procedures, and best practices.

Assign and coordinate duties for RNs, LPNs, and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).

Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to address resident, family, and staff concerns.

Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.

Ensure a safe workplace by following infection prevention and body mechanics protocols.

Assist with staffing coordination, including arranging coverage during staffing shortages when needed.

Participate in the nursing management on-call rotation.

Complete documentation and reports required for resident care and billing.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of North Carolina.

One to three years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Current CPR certification.

Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams, residents, families, and healthcare partners.
