Qualifications:
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience providing sign language interpretation in schools or educational environments
- National or state interpreting certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Ability to adapt to varying classroom activities and content areas
- High degree of professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
- Support students’ comprehension by accurately conveying teachers’ instructions and student responses
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate inclusive learning experiences
- Adapt interpreting methods to suit individual student needs and various educational subjects
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for educational interpreters
- Participate in IEP meetings and other relevant discussions, supporting both staff and student communication
