Engineering Technician - Automation

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineering Technician to support the development, operation, and continuous improvement of automated equipment used in the production of interconnect solutions. This role is well-suited for individuals with strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain automated production equipment used in cable assembly, connector manufacturing, and related electromechanical processes
  • Diagnosing and resolving equipment issues, including automated crimping, stripping, laser-welding, testing, and assembly systems
  • Assist with PLC and control-related tasks, including adjustments, minor program modifications, and sensor or motion system calibration
  • Participate in the integration of new automation technologies, such as robotics, machine vision, and automated test systems
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime
  • Maintain accurate documentation of machine settings, process changes, maintenance activities, and performance metrics
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and internal quality requirements across all automated systems
  • Global travel to our manufacturing sites is required – up to 40%

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working with automated manufacturing equipment, preferably within the interconnect, electronics, or precision assembly sectors
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, and industrial control systems
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in interconnect manufacturing, including crimp quality standards, wire preparation, connector assembly, or automated test equipment
  • Exposure to robotics or machine vision technologies
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured improvement methodologies
  • Ability to interpret or update CAD or electrical drawings
