Structural Fabrication Welder -- Custom Assemblies
Job Description
Job DescriptionStructural Fabrication Welder — Custom Assemblies
Pay: $20.00–$25.00/hour (DOE) | Schedule: Full-Time | Location: Pevely, MO
A Day in the Shop
Your day starts by pulling a fresh set of prints, staging individual cut pieces, and planning the build. You’ll lay out structural tubing, square and align components, tack with intention, and then weld-out the assembly. Along the way you’ll verify dimensions, make adjustments to keep everything true, and finish with a complete, spec-ready structure. No two builds are exactly the same—this is hands-on, custom fabrication from first layout to final weld.
Core Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and precise measurements.
- Lay out parts and build assemblies from individual cut materials.
- Fit, align, and square structural tubing and fabricated components.
- Tack, weld, and join multiple sections to form complete assemblies.
- Check dimensions and overall fit throughout the build; adjust as needed to meet specs.
- Work independently from prints with limited supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
What You Bring
- Hands-on welding and metal fabrication experience.
- Proven skill fitting and assembling structural or fabricated components.
- Fluency reading blueprints/fabrication drawings.
- Confident with a tape measure and basic shop math.
- Ability to visualize how individual pieces come together into a final assembly.
- Strong understanding of fit-up, alignment, and squareness in fabricated structures.
- Comfort working with structural tubing and related materials.
- Quality-driven mindset suited to non-repetitive, custom work.
Backgrounds That Thrive Here
Experience as a Welder/Fabricator, Fitter/Welder, Structural Fabricator, Fabrication Welder, or Welding Assembler is ideal. Candidates from custom fabrication, structural fabrication, equipment manufacturing, or any setting where welders build complete assemblies from prints (rather than repeating a single production weld) excel in this role.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is true fabrication—not a production line. You’ll receive drawings and materials and own the process of building finished welded assemblies from the ground up. If you enjoy reading prints, fitting complex structures, and taking pride in a complete build, you’ll feel right at home.
