Patent New Applications Coordinator
The role is mostly remote but does require some in-office attendance.
Join a state of the start IP firm as their Patent New Applications Coordinator.
The salary is up to $90,000.
Duties:
Assist in the management of the day-to-day function of the New Applications Department.
Responsibilities include the quality review of the work prepared by the New Application Specialists, various administrative elements related to managing the department, maintaining the necessary databases and spreadsheets related to workflow, and ensuring the adherence to policies and procedures that are designed to meet the specific requirements of the client.
Essential Functions:
Quality review the work prepared by the New Application Specialists for accuracy, completeness and compliance with USPTO rules and current policies and procedures of the department
Designated back-up for the New Applications Manager
Maintain high productivity levels to ensure that all the work generated daily by the New Application Specialists are quality reviewed and processed within a given day
Assist the New Applications Manager with training of new staff
Assist in the revisions to the policy and procedures manual for the department
Monitor and evaluate workflow processes and procedures and provide recommendations to improve efficiency to the New Applications Manager
Recognizing where training is needed for New Application Specialists
Coordinate the weekly examination of the department staff to verify the adherence of the New Applications Specialists to accuracy and productivity standards as set by the Director of IP Services and the New Applications Manager
Act as a resource for staff within the department
When necessary, the New Applications Coordinator may need to:·
Perform the duties of a New Applications Specialist (filing new applications)
Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise in connection with the function of the department Draft routine correspondence and prepare documents and forms for attorney's review
Prepare USPTO filings and coordination of such filings/documents ·
Prepare client billing
Job Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years of patent prosecution experience
· Previous supervisory or training experience a must
· Detailed knowledge of USPTO practices and procedures required
well versed in PTO's post-AIA rules
· Knowledge of PTO's EFS filings Procedures as it relates to New Applications
