Accounts Receivable Specialist – Temporary

Location: Montrose Area, Houston, TX
Schedule: 100% On-Site
Job Type: Temporary (through August with potential extension into September)
Pay Rate: $26.00/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our client's team on a temporary basis. This role will primarily focus on cash applications and payment posting, while also providing support across other Accounts Receivable functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can effectively multitask while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Accurately post and apply customer payments to the appropriate accounts and invoices.
Research and resolve unapplied cash and payment discrepancies.
Process lockbox payments and ensure timely cash application.
Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment issues.
Communicate with customers to clarify remittance details and resolve posting questions.
Transfer payments between customer accounts and invoices as needed.
Cross-train in billing and collections to gain a full understanding of the AR cycle.
Meet daily processing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Assist with additional Accounts Receivable tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

3–5 years of well-rounded Accounts Receivable experience.
At least 2 years of recent cash application/cash posting experience.
Strong account reconciliation skills.
Ability to research and resolve payment discrepancies independently.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal teams and customers.
Team-oriented with a positive, collaborative attitude.
