The Shop Foreman / Fleet Manager wears multiple hats to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the business: foreman, dispatcher, safety officer, fleet (vehicle/DOT) administrator, and inventory/purchasing manager. This role will help control cost, manage shop employees, create and implement a shop safety program, keep accurate inventory of all tooling, materials and supplies and assist project managers in any way needed to effectively manage their projects. Subordinates under this role include all shop employees under their direct supervision including mechanics, welders, laborers, as well as field employees not assigned to a specific task.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist Operations and Project Managers in all matters relating to supporting operations.
- Purchasing, maintaining and controlling all inventories for the shop and yard.
- Managing all purchase orders for shop, yard, and maintenance purchases.
- Implement, manage, and enforce safety and accident prevention plan.
- Implement, manage, and enforce fleet maintenance/preventive maintenance programs, including: DOT compliance, CARB compliance, vehicle permitting, registration, and insurance.
- Create, implement, and manage program for tracking all auxiliary equipment.
- Yard management, including all maintenance of yard and vehicles.
- Hiring, firing, training, and supervising of all shop employees including, mechanics, welders, and shop labor.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license and clean record.
Authorized to legally work in the US.
Pass background check and drug screen.
Local candidates preferred; no relocation.
Prefer some experience in the following areas:
- CDL – Class A or B (or experience managing CDL/DOT programs).
- Mechanic/maintenance experience working on heavy duty trucks or equipment.
- Experience in the drilling or heavy transportation industry.
- Experience administrating the company safety program.
- Experience in purchasing/warehousing.
- Experience supervising personnel.
