Retail/Café Operations Manager for an international trading company, responsible for managing two retail/café locations and supporting overall business expansion.
- Location: El Segundo, CA – Corporate office location
Stores in Torrance and Cypress, CA
- Direct Hire 40 hours/week, 5 days per week (some weekend work may be required)
- $60-65K with full benefit
Requirements of the Retail/Cafe Operations Manager:
- Minimum 2 years of food service experience and 1 year of supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
- Professional working proficiency in both English and Japanese (spoken and written communication)
- Strong leadership and professional demeanor
- Passion for café culture
- Customer service–focused mindset
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‐paced environment
- Strong problem‐solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret data and make strategic, ROI‐driven decisions
- Excellent collaboration skills across suppliers, purchasing/logistics, IT, and store teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take ownership of projects
- Strong organization, multitasking, and planning abilities
Responsibilities of the Retail/Cafe Operations Manager:
- Oversee daily operations and development of multiple retail and cafe locations
- Lead and support store managers and café staff to meet sales, profit, service, and operational goals
- Monitor team performance, implement improvements, and maintain cost efficiency
- Manage hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and training for cafe staff
- Complete and review monthly reports: sales, costs, inventory, AR/AP, and store performance
- Set employee performance goals and conduct performance evaluations
- Coordinate scheduling: assignments, rotations, training, vacations, breaks, overtime, and timesheet review
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on menu planning, product selection, and purchasing
- Ensure strong food safety practices, allergen management, and compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Support marketing efforts, promotions, social media initiatives, and online sales
- Maintain clean, attractive, and customer‐friendly store environments
- Identify growth opportunities, recommend new store locations, and support new store development
- Participate in training to learn menu preparation and operational standards from international partners
- Join meetings with global partners to discuss product development, quality control, and store improvement initiatives
Employment Type: Direct Hire / Non-Exempt
