Available Shifts:7:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.8:45 a.m. – 5:15 p.m.8:45 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.Position OverviewThe YMCA is seeking fun, energetic, and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Day Camp Counselors. Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and positive camp experience for all participants. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, communicate effectively with parents, campers, and peers, and demonstrate patience, good judgment, and creativity.Camp Programs:Campers are grouped into:
- Youth Camp: Kindergarten – Grade 6
- Teen Camp: Grades 6 – 9
Daily activities may include:Sports and gamesTheme weeksArts and craftsValues educationSwimmingHikingSongs and group activitiesExperience with children, games, music, swimming, gymnastics, or arts and crafts is a plus - but not required.Teen Camp Counselor Requirements:Counselors working with Teen Camp must:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Maintain a clean driving record
- Pass a driver background check to operate YMCA vehicles
Commitment & Training:Required commitment: Full 11 weeks (June 1 – August 14, weekdays only)Training week: June 1–5, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Interview Process:Interviews may be conducted in person or virtually and last approximately 30–40 minutes. Candidates will participate in discussions and respond to sample day camp scenarios.Applicant Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- High school graduates (college students encouraged to apply)
