Job Description

US Trades is seeking an experienced Logistics Team Member who is both a Certified Crane Operator and Certified Forklift Operator. This position will support material handling and logistics activities throughout the project site.

The selected candidate will serve as the backup to the project’s primary MAGNI Crane Operator and will receive routine operating time in the MAGNI seat. When not operating the MAGNI, this individual will operate a propane-powered sit-down forklift to unload trucks, move materials, and support daily site logistics.

Candidates must be willing and qualified to operate both pieces of equipment throughout the duration of the assignment. This is not a dedicated crane-only or forklift-only position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the backup operator for the project’s MAGNI crane.
  • Routinely operate the MAGNI as directed by site supervision.
  • Operate a propane-powered sit-down forklift to unload trucks delivering materials and equipment to the site.
  • Load, unload, transport, stage, and organize materials throughout the project.
  • Inspect equipment before each shift and document any safety or maintenance concerns.
  • Verify load weights, capacities, rigging requirements, and travel paths before performing lifts.
  • Follow approved lift plans, hand signals, and site-specific hoisting procedures.
  • Coordinate with truck drivers, riggers, spotters, warehouse personnel, and installation crews.
  • Maintain organized material storage and staging areas.
  • Assist with general logistics and material-handling duties when equipment is not in operation.
  • Follow all company, customer, OSHA, and project safety requirements.
  • Report damaged materials, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns immediately.
  • Remain flexible and adjust daily assignments based on project needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Connecticut Hoisting License appropriate for the equipment being operated.
  • Current recognized crane operator certification.
  • Current forklift operator certification.
  • Previous experience operating MAGNI equipment or similar rotating telehandlers/cranes.
  • Experience operating propane-powered sit-down forklifts.
  • Knowledge of load charts, lifting capacities, center-of-gravity considerations, and safe lifting practices.
  • Ability to safely unload trucks and stage construction materials in active work areas.
  • Ability to perform required pre-use inspections and basic equipment checks.
  • Ability to understand and follow lift plans, spotter directions, and standard hand signals.
  • Strong attendance, dependability, and commitment to working the full assigned schedule.
  • Willingness to operate both the MAGNI and forklift for the duration of the assignment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb into and out of equipment throughout the workday.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work outdoors or in active construction environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Ability to work in changing weather and jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to maintain clear vision, depth perception, coordination, and situational awareness while operating equipment.

Important Position Requirement

This is a combination logistics and equipment-operator position. The employee must be comfortable alternating between the MAGNI crane, propane sit-down forklift, and general material-handling duties based on the needs of the project. Candidates seeking a crane-only position should not apply.
