Job Description
As an Engineering Field Technician, you will support project teams by performing on-site technical activities, collecting and validating data, and commissioning and documenting results to help deliver safe, high-quality outcomes for clients. The role blends hands-on fieldwork with clear, professional reporting and collaboration with engineers, project managers, and customer representatives. You will work with the team to determine the feasibility of commercial and design specifications for construction projects. This role involves being onsite on large commercial/industrial projects to perform geotechnical analysis and studies to assess construction site conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site technical activities and data collection for project teams.
- Validate and document results to ensure safe and high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customer representatives.
- Determine the feasibility of commercial and design specifications for construction projects.
- Conduct geotechnical analysis and studies to assess construction site conditions.
- Act as a liaison between field crew, project managers, and engineers.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of an associate degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in commercial construction.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety and the commercial construction process.
- Ability to produce detailed, accurate, and legible construction documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred experience as an inspector, observer, surveyor, or in construction materials testing (CMT).
- Demonstrated successful experience interacting with onsite representatives, general contractors, and subcontractors.
- Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- Experience with concrete construction and inspection.
- Capability to travel to other offices and project sites, primarily within Omaha or Lincoln.
Work Environment
The position is primarily onsite at Offutt Airforce Base, which is a loud and dirty commercial construction site. You will report to the Project Manager and Geotechnical Engineer and serve as a liaison between field crews, project managers, and engineers. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
