Engineering Manager | Kentwood, MI

Salary Range: $118,000 - $167,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and R&D teams to resolve technical issues and support new product introduction.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies within the engineering department.
• Develop and manage the engineering department's budget and capital expenditure plans.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience overseeing engineering teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in manufacturing processes, automation technologies, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex engineering initiatives on time and within budget.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve intricate technical and operational challenges, driving root cause analysis and effective solutions.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• Master's degree in Engineering Management or an MBA.
• Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) or product lifecycle management (PLM) in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., IoT, AI/ML in manufacturing, advanced robotics).
