Position Summary

TheSenior AV Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering AV/IT projects, combining expertise in audiovisual systems with knowledge of the construction industry. This position requires advanced project management skills and the ability to contribute across the project lifecycle—from needs analysis and proposal support to presentation development. The Senior AV Project Engineer is responsible for interpreting project scope, managing costs, schedules, and risks, and leading projects through successful design, planning, execution, commissioning, and closeout.


Requirements

  • Associate degree in technology or equivalent experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
  • 4+ years’ previous experience providing design and engineering support in AV/IT industry
  • AVIXA CTS certificationrequired within 6 months;
    • CompTIA A+ certification required within one year
  • AVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D certification preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Windows and macOS
  • Intermediate-level experience producing drawings and documentation for architectural design packages
  • Proficiency in commissioning AV and IT systems
  • Working knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) and National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of non-standardized situations


Responsibilities

  • Support creation of cost estimates by reviewing blueprints, designs, and other project materials
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop budget estimates, including labor resources, equipment, materials, and milestone schedules
  • Partner with in-house design teams to develop AV/IT systems and room specifications for client spaces
  • Assist in the creation of drawings and documentation for AV/IT systems
  • Work closely with field engineers to perform diagnostic troubleshooting on AV/IT systems
  • Support testing, checkout procedures, and documentation of test results per job specifications
  • Communicate effectively with sales, design, and project team members to ensure alignment
  • Serve as Project Lead on assigned projects as needed
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with the project team to ensure system quality, performance, and client approval
