Scope of Work:
The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks on facilities, equipment, and systems. This role requires practical knowledge across multiple trades to support safe, efficient, and functional operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and systems across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and painting.
- Replace or repair basic electrical components such as receptacles, switches, fixtures, and minor wiring.
- Patch and repair walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
- Repair or replace plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and water coolers.
- Paint structures, equipment, and surfaces as needed for maintenance and upkeep.
- Repair or replace concrete surfaces, including floors, steps, and sidewalks.
- Replace damaged flooring, paneling, and ceiling materials.
- Install and repair doors, locks, and hardware.
- Replace broken window panes and perform general facility repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure proper operation.
- Identify maintenance issues and report repair needs to supervision.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Practical experience in general maintenance or multiple trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or similar).
- Basic knowledge of building systems, repair techniques, and tools.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and complete tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Experience in a government contract or industrial/maintenance environment is preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance (Secret or higher, as required by site).
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, carry, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
- Work involves prolonged standing and walking, as well as the use of hand and power tools.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying positions to complete maintenance tasks.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- May be exposed to noise, dust, chemicals, and mechanical hazards; appropriate PPE will be required.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed to meet mission requirements.
