About the Role
The Quality Technician is responsible for providing the Quality Department technical support, such as performing quality tasks and documentation. This person will be a resource for the Quality Department.
What you'll Do
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Quality Technician consist of but are not limited to:
- Generate bubble prints, inspection plans, and other quality documents for new and existing products.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments and equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
- Assist in development of new inspection methods, processes, and training.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspection and test results per customer requirements.
- Prepare quality reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action requests (CARs).
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability in accordance with AS9100 and ISO 13485 standards.
- Monitor and enforce quality control processes and procedures.
- Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support internal and external audits, including preparing necessary documentation and facilitating audit processes.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to address quality issues.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding quality performance and improvement initiatives.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and revision of quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- 2 year degree or work experience in place of education requirement.
- 1 year of experience in relevant manufacturing/quality support role.
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs.
- ASQ certification (e.g., CQI, CQT) is desirable but not required.
Skill and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of quality control principles, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with quality management software and ERP systems (Epicor or other) is preferred.
- Proficient in various computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
