Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant program graduate or previous Medical Assisting experience required.
- BLS certification required.
- Strong computer, communication, and clinical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Maintain patient flow and document review of systems, vital signs, medical history, and medications.
- Accurately record patient information in the EMR and prepare charts by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing medical records.
- Obtain diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other records from outside facilities as needed.
- Process medication refills and pre-authorizations while communicating with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies.
- Maintain patient samples and medications, dispose of expired medications, and order medical supplies as needed.
- Prepare and maintain clean, fully supplied examination rooms.
- Obtain pertinent medical information to support medical decision-making according to office protocols.
- Answer calls, respond to MyChart messages, schedule appointments, and check patients in and out.
- Manage EMR/Practice Management in-baskets, workflow logs, work queues, and related office tasks.
- Complete pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed.
- Operate EKGs, cardiac monitors, and other equipment to perform routine diagnostic tests.
- Perform clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with safety, legal, quality, and patient experience standards.
- May assist with training new employees or coordinate/oversee work queues in the office.
