Suisman Shapiro is a law firm in New London, CT with diverse practice areas and a strong sense of community. Areas of practice comprise of general litigation, personal injury, marital, criminal defense, labor and worker’s compensation. We are looking for an experienced paralegal in our marital department. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and will be organized and efficient.

Compensation: 25-35 HR + benefits + bonus eligible

We are a respected and busy law firm located in New London, CT, dedicated to providing high-quality legal representation in civil and commercial litigation matters. We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our legal team and support our attorneys in managing a diverse caseload.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
  • Manage case files from inception through trial, including document collection, organization, and maintenance
  • Conduct legal and factual research
  • Assist with trial preparation and support, including preparing exhibits, trial binders, and witness materials
  • Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and court dates
  • Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other law firms in a professional manner
  • Summarize depositions, medical records, and discovery materials
  • E-file documents in state and federal courts (as applicable)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm setting
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures in Connecticut
  • Proficiency with e-filing in CT state courts; familiarity with federal filings is a plus
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred
