Position Summary
The Laundry Aide is responsible for laundering, drying, folding, sorting, and distributing facility linens and residents' personal clothing in accordance with established policies and infection control standards. This position helps ensure residents have clean clothing and linens available while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient laundry operation.
Weekend availability is required.
Essential Responsibilities

Wash, dry, fold, sort, and distribute facility linens, towels, and residents' personal clothing.

Ensure all laundry is processed according to infection prevention and facility guidelines.

Properly identify, organize, and return residents' personal belongings to the appropriate rooms.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry department and work areas.

Operate commercial washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.

Monitor laundry supplies and report equipment issues or maintenance needs to the supervisor.

Follow all safety procedures related to chemicals, equipment operation, and infection control.

Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Nursing, and other departments to meet resident needs.

Maintain professionalism and provide courteous service when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.

Wear required facility uniform and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while on duty.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Six months to one year of laundry, housekeeping, environmental services, or related experience preferred.

Experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, hospital, or long-term care setting is a plus.

Knowledge of commercial laundry equipment and laundry processing procedures.

Understanding of infection prevention and safety practices in a healthcare environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate attitude and ability to work respectfully with older adults, including individuals with cognitive, physical, or sensory impairments.

Ability to assist with department operations in the absence of the Laundry Supervisor when needed.
