Job description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Firmware Engineering Technician with hands-on experience to play a critical role updating device firmware on home safety and security products. This role offers a dynamic environment where you can leverage your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality to make a significant impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes test results for accuracy and compliance.
- Finds root cause of problems and recognizes recurring issues; resolve or contribute to the resolution process.
- Coordinates efforts with firmware engineers to ensure testability addressed during design lifecycle.
- Logs bugs/issues with appropriate detail
- Learn nuances of test lab setup and support the company to generate accurate and usable profiles / data collection to aid in product development (training will be provided)
- Ability to ramp up quickly to learn new tools that are essential for data gathering
- Be prepared to execute documented test plan, review ahead of time and clarify any questions that may otherwise impede progress
Job Requirements
- Soldering experience required.
- Knowledge of bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, or SDIO.
- A working knowledge of embedded hardware (digital, analog, RF).
- Experience with microcontroller programming, or working with microchips, T1s, PCBs, connectors, and configuration files.
- Highly focused with the ability to deliver solid work on tight and extremely aggressive timelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Experience with building cables for various purposes (i.e. data collection)
- Knowledge of debug experience debugging microcontroller-based circuitry
- Knowledge of and/or experience with networking protocols used in data communication systems, especially those unique to wireless communications, would be desirable.
