Associate Attorney - Civil Litigation - Charlotte, NC

Position Overview
We are a trusted legal team in the North and South Carolina markets, and we are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our growing civil litigation team. The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload including commercial disputes, product and premises liability, construction defect, personal injury, negligence, and insurance coverage matters. This role involves managing all phases of litigation from intake through trial and appeals, working closely with partners and clients to deliver strategic, cost-effective legal solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a docket of civil litigation matters including commercial, product liability, premises liability, construction defect, personal injury, insurance coverage cases ect.
  • Conduct legal investigations, perform legal research, and draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and discovery requests and responses.
  • Conduct depositions, participate in mediations and settlement conferences, and support trial preparation and courtroom advocacy as needed.
  • Develop and implement case strategies in collaboration with partners; advise clients on risk assessment, exposure, and resolution options.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, insurers, experts, and court personnel while maintaining accurate and timely case records.
  • Manage discovery process including e-discovery, document production, witness preparation, and coordination with experts and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate billing records, meet productivity expectations, and participate in business development and client retention efforts.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD)
  • Licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina
  • 2+ years of civil litigation experience preferred; candidates with experience in commercial litigation, product liability, premises liability, construction defect, personal injury, negligence, or insurance coverage are strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to explain complex issues to clients.
  • Proficiency with case management software, e-discovery tools, and standard office productivity applications.
