Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Duration: Temp-to-hire

Pay Rate: $32-40/hr on W2 (Including all benefits)

Shift: 1st shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM), flexible start between 6–8AM / First day hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Notes from HM:

  • Responsible for building maintenance, not production line work.
  • Techs respond to facility tickets (lighting, plumbing, HVAC, furniture repairs, door/dock issues).
  • Performs “handyman” tasks: assembling furniture, replacing fixtures, basic plumbing repair, light electrical troubleshooting.
  • Serious/regulated work (fire/sprinkler/backflow) handled by third‐party vendors—technician assesses, then escalates.
  • Must manage and support contractors during scheduled work.
  • Technicians conduct life safety tests: monthly churn tests, quarterly sprinkler flow tests, alarm panel inspections.
  • Must understand building automation systems (beneficial but not required).
  • Work order management through SAP or CMMS.
  • Travel required between sites—mileage handled only for full‐time employees (temps remain at 948/898 until conversion).
  • Must have 10+ years facilities experience; food experience not required but helpful.
  • Candidate must be customer-service oriented (supports office staff requests).
  • Tools cannot have wooden handles due to food safety.
  • No forklift/warehouse maintenance—not a forklift mechanic role.

Summary:

Responsible for maintaining building equipment and correcting malfunctions of that equipment for the 898/948 Aurora Locations. Takes direction from the Maintenance Supervisor and develops and maintains Building Programs. Assists outside Service Contractors as needed. Supports the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations as required on technical issues. Provides Customer Service to Office Personnel as requested.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform Building equipment repairs such as, but not limited to, HVAC Systems, Plumbing Systems, Electrical / Lighting Systems, Furniture Systems, Warehouse Equipment, Boilers/Hot Water Systems, etc.
  • Relieves maintenance supervisor of detail by performing routine investigations; gathering, compiling, and interpreting data; and preparing recommendations and reports.
  • Orders needed components for routine PM’s and work orders through maintenance planners.
  • Travels to pick up repair parts and supplies from Supply stores for emergency needs and maintains purchasing records for expense reports.
  • Provides outside contractor personnel with safety orientation to the facility, requirements of the hazard communication standard, and personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, etc.
  • Inspects and maintains Safety Systems for Buildings, including Emergency Exit signage and lighting, Fire Equipment, Fire Alarm and notification Systems, etc.
  • Plan, organize and follow-up on projects in a thorough manner.
  • Maintain and develop job skills through internal and external training programs.
  • Effectively contribute to CMMS performance through timely PM & Repair Work Order completion while ensuring compliance to safety and quality requirements.
  • Help develop and implement Continuous Improvement projects to improve production efficiencies and Safety.
  • Support the breakdown analysis program (BDA) and tracking of repairs to completion along with implementation of preventative actions.
  • Provides Customer Service to all Employees with regards to requests for help with Building related functions.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to troubleshoot/diagnose potential problems/hazards and propose viable solutions.

· Strong multi-tasking competency with keen attention to detail. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and MS Office programs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. General industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing and pneumatic skills including troubleshooting.
  • Experience in reading Electrical, pneumatics and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of NEC.
  • Basic knowledge of UL508A and NFPA 79 codes preferred.
  • Lock Out Tag Out Safety procedures.
  • Arc Flash and PPE Requirements.
  • Must follow GMP policies and procedures for working in a food environment
  • Strong ability with time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Working knowledge/skill using Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Working knowledge/skill using CMMS such as SAP or UpKeep preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/skill in Root Cause Analysis, Problem identification and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent safety record, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • English required (read and write).
  • Spanish as a second language (preferred).
  • Must have own hand tools (non‐wood).

Education/Experience:

· 10+ years of Building and Facilities Maintenance experience, preferably in a service-oriented Office and Manufacturing environment

· Minimum High School Diploma

· Vocational School education is considered a plus

Lifting Demands:

  • Lift up to 55 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to waist
  • Lift up to 30 lbs. on an occasional basis waist to shoulder
  • Carry up to 30 lbs. on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
  • Climb on an occasional basis up an 8’ ladder
